China transport is efficient, but the scale of airports, stations, security checks, and city distances requires realistic buffers.

Fast systems still need slow edges
High-speed rail and metro systems can be excellent, but the edges around them take time: entering the station, security checks, passport verification, finding the waiting hall, reaching the platform, and leaving through the correct exit. A schedule that looks comfortable on a map can become tight in a real station.
The faster the train, the more important the station buffer becomes.
Airports are not interchangeable
Many Chinese cities have multiple airports or large terminal layouts. Beijing Capital and Daxing are not the same. Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao support different travel patterns. A flight route should be checked against hotel location and next-day transport, not only ticket price.
Cheap flights can become expensive if the airport location breaks the rest of the plan.
Taxis need address discipline
Ride-hailing and taxis work best when you have Chinese addresses, pickup points, phone access, and payment backup. In large malls, stations, and business districts, the pickup point can be more important than the destination address. Screenshots help when signal or language fails.

A Chinese metro station can have many exits spread across a large area. Choosing the wrong exit can add a long walk, stairs, or road crossings. Save the exit when possible, and do not assume one station name equals one small entrance.
